Default Elite Classes and Archetypes

Well, I was playing a demo of City of Heroes and there was this really cool ghost class/profession i wanted to play but it wouldn't let me play him because it was an Elite Archetype and the only way to play it was it get one guy to to level 50. Then I got to thinking that perhaps Guild Wars could have some sort of Elite Class system. Like say once one of your characters hits 1 million experience points u get to play one of two or three new classes.

I was thinking maybe one of the new classes could be something that wields a crossbow and its main power would be summoning Elemental Minions like mini ice golems and fire titans. It could also get power boosts with the area surrounding the toon for stat bonuses. It could also change into animals and use bonuses for each animal he is. It would make a fine addition to Guild Wars. It's attribute would be...

Crossbow Mastery

Elemental Magic (or can be split into Heart of Fire, Heart of Wind/Air, Heart of Ice/Water, and Heart of Leaves/Earth/Rock)

Alchemy (like potions and stuff for health, energy, and attribute bonuses)

Shape Shiftery (kind of like an alternate beast mastery attribute only you become the animal through transformation, and you can use different skills and spells with what ever animal you become. You get a temporary skill bar for each animal which has animal attacks and skills on it.)

Aside from being the most unorganized combination of attributes, the short answer would be no. Simply put, this game revolves around gameplay, not grinding. It takes a level of progress to access weapons, armor, and skills, but in the end, the game as a whole revolves around ease of access and gameplay immersion rather than spending excessive amounts of time preparing to play what you want.

That is exactly what you suggested, a feature which can only be accessed by playing through, and most specifically, grinding, until you can access the class that you actually want to play. I don't play city of heros, so I don't know how enjoyable their character developement and access might be, I woln't say that it isn't fun for that game. But I will say that features like that are exactly and directly what this game stands against, down the the very core of this games priorities, and new classes which can only be accessed by grinding for exp is clearly unacceptable.

Yeah...I can't support this idea, it's simply against the core principle of Guild Wars.

Sorry... but no. Crossbows, elements, minions, lyncanthropy, and alchemy in 1 class? Not only that but requiring grind in Guild Wars is a cardinal sin

The grind is the exact reason I do not play COH anymore. I would not want to see it here. The only reason for the grind in the subscription games is to keep you on longer therefore increasing thier income. (However I am not blind and can see that Guild Wars uses expansion packs like subscription fees.) Armor, weapons and other nosh is reward enough for finishing the story line.
